Product Roadmap Update – 2025

Product Roadmap Update – 2025

Hi all,

2025 is here and we’re off to the races!

Over the past year, we’ve been hard at work on Vero 2.0. Our goal has been not only to make it the default interface, but also to load it with key improvements and features you’ve requested.

We’re moving as fast as we can and also making sure that every release we ship in Vero 2.0 is a genuine step up. For example, we’re currently focused on building “Workflows 2.0” with some big improvements such as versioning, granular node reporting, SMS and other much-requested features.

Our goal this year is to fully transition to Vero 2.0, but rest assured, you’ll be able to switch back to Vero 1.0 until you’re comfortable with the new interface.

Let’s kick off the year by reflecting on last year’s achievements and looking forward to the exciting developments ahead!

Thank you for being a vital part of our journey—your feedback, ideas, and support help shape Vero every single day.

Chris CEO and Co-Founder

Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Foundations

Last year was all about setting the groundwork for a smooth transition to Vero 2.0 by migrating key features, upgrading critical backend architecture, releasing several brand new features and making it possible to switch between the two interfaces. Here’s a few of our most recent releases.

Event Triggers

Send automated campaigns in Vero 2.0 Setting the stage for important automation features coming up, we released event-based triggers for single-message campaigns in Vero 2.0. This means Vero 2.0 campaigns can be triggered by API events from our tracking libraries, or integrations with tools like Zapier, Segment, Rudderstack and more. Read more

Export to Data Warehouse

export data from Vero with data destinations In private beta, you can now export data Vero generates, such as sent, delivery, open, click records and more, to an external data warehouse of your choice. Once synced to your data warehouse, such as Snowflake, Redshift, and BigQuery, you can create custom reports or segment and enrich using this data across your business. Read more

Data Feeds

insert external data into your content with data feeds Previously called “Fusion” or “External Attributes” and renamed Data Feeds for clarity, you can now use this powerful feature in Vero 2.0.

Data Feeds enables you to centrally setup connections to an external API and load data from that API in any campaign at send time, and insert real-time data into campaigns from that API for hyper-personalization. Read more

API Key Management

Manage API keys in Vero 2.0 for use with the tracking library and event based automation, including:

  • One-time display of keys. We only show API keys when created, for security purposes.
  • Key expiration options. Have more control over when keys expire.

SMS with Twilio

SMS campaigns One of our most requested features, we were delighted to finally roll out SMS in 2024! With a Twilio integration, sending SMS messages is available in Vero 2.0 for single message campaigns and will be available for message journeys this year. Read more

Future-proofing for Public API

Vero's New API All of the above features were built on top of our new API, which we intend to release publicly later this year. You can continue to view a preview of the endpoints we’re using, and that we intend to release, in our developer guide. Read the docs

The Road Ahead: What’s coming in 2025

2025 is all about execution. With the groundwork from 2024 in place, we’re moving full steam ahead on ensuring Vero 2.0 is fully backwards-compatible. Here are the core projects and features we’re working on and the improvements that will come with each, incorporating all of the lessons we’ve learned from Vero 1.0 and the vital feedback we’ve received from our customers.

Journeys (Workflows 2.0)

Journeys (AKA Workflows 2.0) Automation has always been at the heart of Vero. Not only are we renaming it Journeys, we are making several exciting improvements:

  • More triggers – Go beyond just “event triggers” and manually trigger journeys at a specific time, on a recurring schedule, when a user enters a segment and more.
  • Faster journey canvas – We’re introducing an improved journey-building experience that makes it easier to create and edit complex automations.
  • Better logging and visibility – We’re increasing the granularity of reports so you can see how Vero processes each “node” (delay, filter, etc) in a journey. We’ll also introduce better aggregate reporting across a journey.
  • Versioning – Experiment more easily within your campaigns. Move, edit or remove nodes on the fly and only publish when you’ve finalised your changes. Plus, keep track of your journey revisions with reporting.
  • Automation API – We’re completely rebuilding the API for automations in Vero 2.0, allowing us to give access to create automations via code, and making journey-related feature requests much easier to deliver. The first releases related to Workflows Vero 2.0 will go live in Q2 2025.

Segments 2.0

Segments 2.0 In Vero 2.0 we’re making audience segmentation much more powerful. As part of the Segments 2.0 release you can expect:

  • More granular filters – We’re introducing new condition options for creating dynamic, behavior-driven segments.
  • More data sources – Enabling segmentation using both data stored inside Vero and data stored in external warehouses, and making all of this easily accessible to all team members.
  • Brand new interface – A new, more user-friendly interface for creating and reusing segments The first releases related to Segments 2.0 will go live after the initial Workflows 2.0 roll out, targeting Q3 2025.

A Peek Behind the Curtain

Much of what makes Vero 2.0 possible happens behind the scenes, in the backend systems that power everything you see. While these upgrades aren’t always obvious, they’re fundamental to improving performance, scalability, and the future of our product. Here’s a glimpse at two major projects shaping Vero’s foundation:

Faster, More Scalable Infrastructure

To handle increasing demand and ensure a smoother experience, we’ve rebuilt core processes like batch newsletter sending on a modern, high-performance stack. We’re leveraging ClickHouse, ScyllaDB, Kafka, and Temporal to improve data processing, resilience, and scalability. These upgrades significantly reduce operational delays, making Vero faster and more efficient as we expand capabilities.

More Powerful Reporting and Analytics

Under the hood, we’ve completely reworked how Vero tracks and processes data. Our upgraded logging system supports granular, real-time insights, allowing for node-level reporting (mapping exactly how users move through workflows), device and country-level analytics, and richer campaign performance metrics. These improvements lay the groundwork for more advanced dashboards and deeper insights, giving you greater visibility into how your messages perform.

These backend investments might not always be visible, but they’re critical to everything we do and enable smarter automation, richer analytics, and a faster, more reliable experience for you.

The Journey to Vero 2.0

Vero 2.0 was born from the evolving needs of marketers. As more teams embraced centralized data warehouses, we introduced “Vero Connect,” allowing direct access to customer data without syncing to our databases. The response was strong, but we also heard a clear message: marketers needed flexibility, combining warehouse data with direct tracking via our SDKs and integrations. This insight drove us to merge our products, creating Vero 2.0: a faster, more powerful platform built on a new API and infrastructure.

Now, we’re focused on ensuring a smooth transition to Vero 2.0. Alongside major upgrades like Journeys 2.0 and Workflows 2.0, we’re also bringing over every key feature from Vero 1.0, such as Event management, A/B Testing and Push notifications. We’re working as hard as we can to add these to Vero 2.0 this year.

At a certain point Vero 2.0 will become the default interface, however you’ll be able to switch back to Vero 1.0 until you’re comfortable with the new interface.

..and the Vision Beyond

Vero 2.0 streamlines our product for both our teams and our users, with a clear roadmap and major progress on core features. Looking ahead, our design team is gathering feedback on these key areas:

  • AI – We’re exploring “agentic” marketing—where you provide content and guidelines, and AI handles experimentation by reporting what works and what doesn’t. Although still emerging, this approach could significantly enhance your marketing efforts, taking inspiration from platforms like Meta and Google.
  • New channels – In addition to email, SMS, and mobile push, we’re working on integrating WhatsApp, custom webhooks, and in-app messaging, so you can reach customers on their preferred channels. Vote for your most-needed channels on our feedback board.
  • Smart campaigns – We’re exploring how truly smart API’s and UI’s could help bring some intelligent approaches to common messaging use cases. One example: Vero could automatically choose the channel best suited for the customer at any given time and, if necessary, deliver the message on an alternative channel after a set period.
  • Enhanced preference management – Responding to popular requests, we’re improving unsubscribe management and formalizing preference controls. This enhancement, built into our 2024 backend rebuild, will debut its user interface in Vero 2.0, helping you maximize customer reach. We’re committed to making Vero 2.0 the best platform for modern marketing, and your feedback plays a key role in shaping what’s next.

If you have feedback, questions, or ideas, [we’d love to hear from you](mailto: support@getvero.com). We’re building Vero to be the best tool for your messaging needs, and your input is what makes that possible.

Here’s to a great year ahead for your business!
